EU Ambassador Team visited Killyamuro Bangalee PDC, Balukhali Union, Rangamati Sadar Upazila, CIPD Project site

On 17 October, 2011 at 3.00 PM a team of EU Ambassador visited Killyamuro Banglali Para Development Committee (PDC) at Balukhali Union, Rangamati Sadar Upazila, Rangamati Hill Districts. EU Ambassador H.E. Mr. William Hanna could not make prescheduled visit to PDC while he was meeting with Mr. Santu Larma, Chairman, Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council (CHTRC) following late arrival of Rangamati from Dhaka.

Killyamuro Bangalee PDC, a PDC about 8 kilometers away from Rangamati town was formed by CIPD in 2009 under Community Empowerment and Economic Development (CE&ED) Programme funded by CHTDF-UNDP. Mr. Milko Van Gool, Andrew Barnard and others visited community empowerment activities of PDC. The team had a long discussion with the villagers and visited fish culture project of the PDC. PDC had undertaken Cow Rearing, Integrated Fish Culture and Community Rice Bank under CE&ED activities. The team appreciated on project activities of PDC. Community Rice Bank is undertaken by PDC in order to save people from starvation and ensure food security. It is notable that CE&ED program of CHTDF-UNDP is supported by EU. The team visited CHTDF activities in 3 Hill Districts during 16-19 October.
