Henrik Fredborg Larsen, Director, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Facility (CHTDF) accompanied by Mogens Strrnge Larsen, Councilor, Danida visited remote Charikhong PDC of Bandukvanga Union of Rangamati Sadar Upazila on 19 September 2011.

It takes 25 minutes speed boat journey and 30 minutes hiking to arrive at Charikhon PDC about 18 KM north east to Rangamati town.  Mr. Henrik and Mr. Mogen reached at 11.00 to Charikhong. PDC was in festive mood with the guest. Even the GoB Officials rarely visits the village.

Charikhong PDC was formed by CIPD in 2004 under CE & ED Project Activities supported by CHTDF. PDC has undertaken Cow Rearing, Goat Rearing, Husking Machine, Solar Panel, Honey Bee Keeping project activities in order to reduce poverty in the village. Charikhong PDC has made tangible progress on socio-economic status with the project activities by now. Charikhong is a remote Chakma Community village without road communication with 26 families.

I am really happy with the honey I produced myself at my home. It is really a strange thing that we now produce enough honey in the village which we could not imagine before. UNDP and CIPD bring lot of change in the village.
