On 30-31 July 2011 CIPD organized 2 day long annual “Agro Product Fair-2011” under Community Empowerment and Economic Development Activities Project (CE&ED) funded by CHTDF-UNDP. The venue of the fair was Rangamati Gymnasium Premise. In the fair 25 Para Development Committees (PDC) from six Unions of Rangamati Sadar Upazila took part with their agriculture products. Agriculture Information Service (AIS), Rangamati Region and Upazila Livestock Department participated with stall in the fair from GoB department.

Mr. Kajal Talukder, Deputy Director of Agriculture Extension Department of Rangamati Region inaugurated the fair as a Chief Guest at 10.00 AM. Mr. Musa Matabbar, Upazila Chairman of Rangamati Sadar Upazila presided over the inaugural ceremony. Chief Executive(CE) of Adivasi Unnayan Kendra (CIPD) Mr. Jana Lal Chakma, Upazila Agriculture Officer Mr. Paban Kumar Chakma, Upazila Livestock Officer Mr. Safiul Ahad Sardar, Regional Director of Agriculture Information Service(AIS) Rangamati Region Mr. Tapan Kumar Pal and Ms. Dipannita Chakma, Upazila Coordinator of Rangamati Sadar Upazila of CHTDF were present as a special guest.
This is the 2nd Agro Product Fair organized by CIPD under CE&ED Activities. The first Agro Product Fair was initiated in 2010. The main objective of the fair is to encourage the farmers to grow more agro product and ensure reasonable price by discussing problem of farmers and discover market potentiality of past free agro products of CHT. The theme of the ongoing fair is “Grow more products from small piece of land with modern knowledge.”

Mr. Jana Lal Chakma thanks to Para Development Committee (PDC) and GoB organization for participate in the fair. Chief Guest Mr. Kajal Talukder emphasized the importance of leveling and grading system to ensure reasonable price of the farmers. He also impressed to take initiative for the promotion of past free agro product in CHT.

In closing day, Marangchari PDC (Sapchari Union) was awarded as best stall and Charikyong PDC (Bandukvanga Union) won the best products prize for Honey product. 2nd and 3rd prize won by Ranyachari PDC(Mogban Union) and Shukarchari PDC under (Sapchari Union).
