Honourable CHT Regional Council members- Mr. Nurul Alam and Mr. Chai Thowai Prue visited CIPD head office on 10th instant as part of CHTRC’s routine inspection. They were for about 2 hours. Section 22 of the CHTRC Act 1998 empowers CHTRC to supervise and monitor the NGO activities, development works of Government line departments in the CHT. Foreign funded projects can be implemented in the CHT once the CHTRC gives NOC and gets clearance from the Ministry of CHT Affairs.
Prof. Mong Shanoo Chowdhury, CIPD president, Mr. Jana Lal Chakma, CIPD CEO and Mr. Veteayon Chakma, Regional Manager were present during the inspection. The visiting team was briefed on the CIPD development interventions by power-point presentation and necessary papers were given to them. Both the CHTRC members expressed their satisfaction on the CIPD role and suggested to reduce the service charge and increase the loan ceiling if these were possible. Finally, the team asked them to collect the inspection report from the CHTRC office.
